The cast of Mandela Trilogy credit John Snelling (1)The inspirational life of Nelson Mandela is brought to the Hippodrome stage in Mandela Trilogy.  A cast of over 60 South African performers from the famous Cape Town Opera bring the story of  one of the world’s most iconic figures to the Hippodrome stage for the first time. Told in three acts Mandela Trilogy features upbeat jazz and swing-influenced songs, contemporary opera with a dash of authentic folk music that grounds the production in its African roots. 20 & 21 Sept 16

After an absence of five years Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater makes a welcome return with a dazzling array of offerings. One of America’s best loved dance companies will feature an all-star line-up which will include Ailey classics as well as new works by some of today’s most acclaimed choreographers. 23 & 24 Sept 16

The multi-award winning musical Blood Brothers returns. Written by Willy Russell this legendary musical affectionately christened the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’ features a superb score including Bright New  DayMarilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True. 10-22 Oct 16

Dick WhittingtonFollowing its recent season at Birmingham Hippodrome we are delighted that the acclaimed Sir Peter Wright production of The Nutcracker returns in November 2016.There’s  no better way to celebrate the festive season than with a trip to see this much loved production. Dick Whittington has just been announced for 2016/17.   Pantomime funnyman Matt Slack will return for his 4th pantomime here with further star casting to be announced. Producer/Director Michael Harrison said “Dick Whittington promises to be an unmississable Christmas show at Birmingham Hippodrome, the home of pantomime.” 19 Dec 16-29 Jan 17
