To celebrate the arrival of the fantasmogorical family musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at Birmingham Hippodrome this week, the talented chocolatiers at Cadbury World in Bournville have been busy creating their very own version of the stage show’s magical flying car.

Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, and starring Casualty’s Lee Mead AS Caractacus Potts, Phill Jupitus as Baron Bomburst and Claire Sweeney as Baroness Bomburst, the musical is currently going down a treat with audiences at Birmingham Hippodrome where it runs until Sunday 18th September.

Expertly crafted from pure chocolate, the work of art features the iconic car flying through the clouds – complete with an intricate gold snake along the wheel, gold head lamps, a picnic basket and a seat made to look like a vintage boat.

Made from a combination of milk and white chocolate, finished with gold and silver lustre, the masterpiece took three chocolatiers two days to make and weighs an impressive 20kg.

The creation will be on display in our foyer throughout the duration of the musical, which runs until Sun 18 Sep.

This latest masterpiece follows on from a host of impressive creations built by the Cadbury World team. Recently, they honoured the Queen’s 90th birthday by constructing a chocolate Buckingham Palace, complete with ornate gates, soldiers and a street party.
