Last night, in a virtual awards ceremony, VisitEngland announced the winners of its annual Awards for Excellence, celebrating the best of the country’s tourism industry.

We are so honoured to have won Silver for the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award.

The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, now in its thirty-first year, celebrate and champion innovation, quality and best practice across the industry recognising businesses and individuals who raise the bar of England’s tourism offer.

We were shortlisted for the National Awards after winning the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award at the inaugural West Midlands Tourism Awards in February.

Fiona Allan, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Birmingham Hippodrome said: “Winning the Visit England Silver Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award is a huge achievement for us: it is thrilling to have national recognition as a creative and cultural hub that is welcoming and accessible to all. The Hippodrome appeals to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds through our range of free and low-cost cultural experiences, in addition to the world class performances on our stage.

“I am so proud of our vast ranging work on making the Hippodrome accessible and inclusive through our extensive education work with schools and communities with low social engagement, our partnerships with the city’s many festivals, and our full programme of access and relaxed performances.”
