Bullring & Grand Central and Birmingham Hippodrome have partnered with Every Can Counts to bring the spectacular Every Can Counts Rainbow to Birmingham city centre to celebrate Birmingham Pride weekend.

The rainbow stands at an impressive four metres high and seven metres wide and will be on Central Street outside the Bullring from today (Friday 24 September) until the close of the Pride celebrations on Sunday 26 September. Kicking off the weekend celebrations, the Every Can Counts Rainbow will receive a special welcome on Friday afternoon from glam disco king Boogaloo Stu on the snail stage and a drive time takeover with Gaydio.

The arrival of the installation in Birmingham also coincides with National Recycling Week. The rainbow is created from over 2,500 recycled drink cans and aims to remind us all to do our bit for the environment and to also provide a place for people to recycle their empty cans. Drink cans are endlessly recyclable and all of the cans recycled during Birmingham Pride this weekend could be back on shop shelves as brand new drink cans in just 60 days.

Every Can Counts is also running a social media photo competition offering the chance to win £250 of shopping vouchers. To enter, take a snap of the rainbow and upload it to social media using #EveryCanCounts and tagging @EveryCanCountsUK (Instagram/Facebook) or @EveryCanCounts (Twitter). Full competition details can be found here.
