The Wiz

The Madness of George III 

This week’s National Theatre at Home’s stream is the Nottingham Playhouse’s production of The Madness of George III, by Alan Bennett.

1788. King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But with his mind unravelling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and a scheming prince threaten to undermine the power of the crown.

The Madness of George III, directed by Adam Penford, is streaming from 7pm on Thursday 11 June here.

Macbeth

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s acclaimed production of Macbeth starring Christopher Eccleston is playing on BBC Four this Sunday at 9:30pm as part of their Culture in Quarantine series.

Shakespeare’s darkest psychological thriller. Returning home from battle, the victorious Macbeth meets three witches on the heath. Driven by their disturbing prophecies, he sets out on a path to murder.

La Fille mal gardée

Starring Carlos Acosta, the Royal Opera House are streaming Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée from 7pm on Friday 12 June.

Inspired by his love for the Suffolk countryside, the ballet is set on a farm and tells a story of love between Lise, the daughter of Widow Simone, and Colas, a young farmer.

Mr Maglump

Mr Maglump, a magical family musical for all ages, focused on themes of integration within communities and the importance of remaining true to oneself.

The story follows a small family, the Robins, living on Chipson Street – where everybody does everything together – as they discover that their rather miserable neighbour has a rather wonderful past and story to tell.
