Matilda in the Midlands

Matilda The Musical received its world premiere right here in the Midlands at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Courtyard Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon in 2010 before transferring to London’s West End in 2011 and making its Broadway debut in 2013. The hit production holds a joint record with Hamilton for the most Olivier Awards won by a musical, receiving 9 awards in 2017. Eight years after its premiere, the magic of Matilda The Musical finally came to Birmingham Hippodrome in 2018, playing for two months of performances.
