UK PREMIERE

“For me, beauty lies in insubordination”. Choreographer, singer and author Dorothée Munyaneza has created a dance and vocal performance for six female African or of African descent artists.

Each of their voices and bodies tells a unique story of journey, commitment and strength. The artists on stage boldly and freely manifest an intimate and collective memory. Munyaneza weaves these stories together and creates a symphony of voices. In collaboration with artist and designer Stéphanie Coudert, costume and fabric provide a common thread on stage and interrogate femininity and freedom of the body.

Presented as part of Birmingham International Dance Festival 2022.
