We’re thrilled be joining forces with Birmingham Pride 2018 with an exclusive live performance from the smash-hit West End production of Kinky Boots.

On Saturday 26 May cast members of Kinky Boots, the winner of every major Best Musical award, will be performing ‘Land of Lola’ in celebration of the UKs biggest two-day LGBT event and Parade across the city from Sat 26 – Sun 27 May.

Stepping out in the city, ahead of a UK tour, members of the Kinky Boots cast will join representatives from the Birmingham Hippodrome team aboard a float as participants of this year’s #BeYou Birmingham Pride Carnival Parade on Sat 26 May, setting off at 12noon from Victoria Square complete with booted-beauties, scarlet accessories and sassy show soundtrack.

This will be followed by a live performance of ‘Land of Lola’ by Lola and her Angels taking place at 3.15pm in the Cabaret Marquee of the Pride festival.

The visit, which has been made possible by Birmingham Hippodrome Projects in partnership with Jamie Wilson Productions, marks Kinky Boots’ first Pride performance outside of London and the Hippodrome’s first large-scale collaboration with Birmingham Pride in its 46 year history.

Nick Salmon, UK Producer of Kinky Boots at Playful Productions said; ‘The Kinky Boots family are thrilled to be performing at Birmingham Pride this year ahead of our visit to the Hippodrome in March 2019. Lola and her fabulous Angels will be sharing the show’s giant heart with the city and they can’t wait to join in with the weekend’s spectacular parade. Kinky Boots is a joyous celebration about the friendships we discover and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind – a perfect pairing with Pride!’

Kinky Boots will be at Birmingham Hippodrome 11 -23 March 2019 and tickets are now on sale. For further information and tickets, please call our Information and Sales team on 0844 338 5000 or visit https://www.birminghamhippodrome.com/calendar/kinky-boots/

Performers on the day include Jemal Felix as Lola and Jak Allen-Anderson, George Grayson, Luke Jackson and Ben Sell as Angels.

Kinky Boots has become a favourite with UK theatre-goers having won three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry who played Lola. Kinky Boots also won the London Evening Standard BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical as well as three WhatsOnStage Awards for Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical and Best Choreography.

With a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony® Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles), and songs by Grammy® and Tony® winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, this joyous musical celebration is about the friendships we discover, and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind.

Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.

With direction and choreography by two-time Tony® Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray), Kinky Boots is the winner of every major Best Musical award including three Olivier Awards, three WhatsOnStage Awards as well as six Broadway Tony® Awards.
