We were lucky enough to go behind the scenes of the sitzprobe for the Miss Saigon UK tour which is the first occasion that the cast meet the orchestra and sing through the legendary score by Claude-Michel Schönberg.

Claude-Michel then spoke to us about what it’s like to hear a new cast sing his epic score, as he expressed his excitement for the UK tour. We also had a chat with the musical director of the production Stephen Brooker who discussed the intricacy of the orchestration that creates the enormity of the show. Not to mention the conductor James McKeon who relishes in the challenge of diverse and dynamic orchestration.

Winner of a record-breaking nine Whatsonstage Awards 2015 including Best Show, this epic love story tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.

Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schönberg’s legendary musical MISS SAIGON – a recent smash hit in the West End opens here at the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre on July 26.
