While theatres across the world are closed, we’re fortunate that musicals are having a moment on film.

Here’s our run down of the upcoming musical movies we’re most excited about seeing in the coming months!

West Side Story
Steven Spielberg’s much-anticipated remake of West Side Story is due for release in December 2020.

Starring Ansel Elgort as Tony and newcomer Rachel Zegler as Maria, the cast also features Rita Moreno who played Anita in the original 1961 film.

The Prom
Landing on Netflix in the coming months, The Prom is inspired by the recent Broadway smash-hit musical.

It tells the story of a high school girl who wants to take her girlfriend to prom and boasts a firmly A list cast including Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington and James Corden.

In the Heights
Originally planned for release this summer, In the Heights will now get the Hollywood treatment in 2021.

This is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first musical before he wrote Hamilton, and the trailer promises a dynamic, heartwarming epic…

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
This adaptation of the hit British show has also been pushed back to early next year.
