What’s better than listening to your favourite songs by your favourite band? Seeing them on stage and in a theatre as part of a musical of course! This week we asked our audiences what their favourite Jukebox Musical was, and there were lots of great, toe-tapping suggestions with a few clear fan favourites.

5. Motown: The Musical

In at number five, we have the sensational hit Motown:The Musical, which amplifies the music that made history, defined the sound of a generation and got the whole world moving to the same beat.

4. Jersey Boys

Your fourth choice tells of four guys from Jersey, who created a sound nobody had ever heard before. Jersey Boys takes us behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons whose harmonies were perfect on stage, but backstage things were a little off-key. The show features legendary hits including “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Walk Like A Man” and “December, 1963 (Oh What A Night)”.

3. Rock of Ages

Your third favourite Jukebox Musical – Rock of Ages – is an LA love story lavished with over 25 classic rock anthems. Much-loved amongst audiences, the hilarious musical tells the story of a small-town girl, a city boy, and a rock ‘n’ roll romance on the Sunset Strip against the backdrop of everybody’s favourite ’80s rock anthems and power ballads. The set list includes classics such as “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, “I Wanna Know What Love Is”, “Here I Go Again” And “Don’t Stop Believin’”.

2. Mamma Mia

Just pipped to first place, ultimate feel good show Mamma Mia came in a strong second. Over 65 million people around the world have fallen in love with the storytelling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs, which propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship. The  soundtrack includes “Lay All Your Love on Me”, “Money, Money, Money”, “Take a Chance on Me”, “Dancing Queen”, and, of course “Mamma Mia”, no wonder our audiences have the time of their lives at this show!

1. We Will Rock You

Taking the top billing is…We Will Rock You! Based on the songs of British rock band Queen and a book by Ben Elton, the musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought and fashion, living in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden, and rock music is all but unknown.

Including hits such as “Somebody to Love”, “Killer Queen”, “Under Pressure” and, title song “We Will Rock You”, this classic show has everyone out of their seats!
