This week is National Apprenticeship Week, in 2021 we took on a group of Apprentices across a range of departments at Birmingham Hippodrome. This week we are highlighting some of the different roles across the theatre. Today we have our Digital Content Apprentice Beth in the spotlight!

What is your title and which department do you work with?

I am the Digital Content Apprentice in the Communications department.

What do you do?

I work with the team to create digital content for our online communications. This includes social media, blogs, videos, graphics and more. I assist with the social media channels ensuring we can spread the word about all the amazing things happening at the Hippodrome in exciting ways.

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

I have always thought that I would prefer an apprenticeship to going to university because I tend to learn better in a more productive and practical environment. By doing an apprenticeship, I learn on the job, and it is a brilliant way to get into an industry.

What has been your favourite moment so far?

One of my favourite moments so far was that I got to attend the Worldwide launch of Rambert Dance in Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby. The launch involved capturing content for social media and meeting journalists from companies like the BBC, ITV and more. As well as the creator of Peaky Blinders Steven Knight himself!

What are you looking forward to?

Even though it is a long way away and there are so many amazing productions coming up, I am really looking forward to having Panto back on our stage. Goldilocks and the Three Bears was the first production that I worked on from start to finish and when you walked around the theatre you could feel the atmosphere.

Which show are you most looking forward to working on?

One of the shows that I am looking forward to working on is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, mainly because Jason Donavon will be returning to the Hippodrome after his Pantomime debut; I’m really looking forward to creating content for this production.
