The electrifying São Paulo Dance Company returns to the UK for its highly anticipated second tour, bringing bold Brazilian energy and world class dance to Birmingham Hippodrome (Fri 5 Feb – Sat 6 Feb 2027)Founded in 2008 and internationally celebrated for its dynamic repertoire, São Paulo Dance Company showcases a distinctive artistic voice – where classical technique meets contemporary innovation, driven by a powerful Latin pulse. With dancers renowned for their technical brilliance and vibrant personalities, the company delivers performances that are both viscerally charged and visually breathtaking.

Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical Hadestown (Tue 13 Apr – Sat 17 Apr 2027), heads to Birmingham on its first UK and Ireland tour in April 2027. Blending American songwriting traditions, from indie folk, to pop, blues, and New Orleans-inspired jazz, Hadestown takes you on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back, intertwining two mythic love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone.

Inspired by the life of Paul O’Grady and created with his blessing, Savage (Tue 20 Apr – Sat 24 Apr 2027) is a bold and deeply moving new play, making its world premiere in 2027. Written by multi-award-winning Jonathan Harvey (Gimme Gimme Gimme, Coronation Street, Beautiful Thing), the show follows Paul’s journey from the streets of Merseyside to the heart of London’s club scene, where, armed with little more than his wits and a wig, he began carving out a place for himself. Funny, raw, and full of heart, this is the story of    how Paul became Lily and how Lily became a British icon.

Rambert’s new dance work It’s a Sin (Tue 28 Apr – Sat 1 May 2027), is inspired by the acclaimed series by Russell T Davies, directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer. In the heart of 80s London, Ritchie, Roscoe, Colin and Jill are chasing identity, connection and a life on their own terms. When day spills into night, they find a world of abandon, music and friendship, where bodies move freely and life feels limitless. But as the AIDS crisis begins to unfold, their lives are irrevocably changed.

In May 2027, audiences can journey back to the glamour of Hollywood with Singin’ in the Rain (Tue 11 May – Sat 15 May 2027). Featuring high-energy choreography and sumptuous set designs (including over 14,000 litres of water on stage), Singin’ in the Rain features the glorious MGM score including Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh and the legendary Singin’ in the Rain.

Chicago, the “sexiest musical ever” (Metro), will arrive in Birmingham for two weeks next summer. (Tue 27 July – Sat 7 Aug 2027). Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.

The award-winning collective behind Dugsi Dayz (2022) and Desperate Times (2023) Side eYe bring their new production Off-Key to the Patrick Studio in October. (Sat 31 Oct 2026). Quick-witted, sharp and deeply heartfelt, Off-Key is a pulsating coming-of-age drama about Black girlhood, ambition, friendship and what happens when the person who knows you best, becomes someone you no longer recognise?

FABRIC bring three dance works to the Patrick Studio in November as part of THIS IS DANCE, an international season of dance in Birmingham.

Peek behind the velvet curtain of The Dirty Work (Sat 7 Nov 2026), a new solo performance by Jo Bannon. Blending the tricks of the trade – a white rabbit, a magic wand, a puff of smoke – with her lived experience of visual impairment, Bannon invites you to glimpse a world where truth and illusion, performance and reality converge.

With generous humour, Silvia Gribaudi’s Graces (Fri 20 Nov 2026), transforms imperfection into an art form, using a direct, raw and deeply empathetic comic style that blurs the boundaries between dance, theatre and performance.

Anatomy of Survival (Thu 26 Nov 2026) is an offbeat collaboration between award-winning playwright Vivienne Franzmann and choreographer and psychotherapist Frauke Requardt, bringing together 22 very different eyewitness accounts of one everyday altercation to show how our nervous systems are stuck in the Stone Age.

In March 2027 families can jump on board the broom with the witch and her cat in Tall Stories’ fun-filled adaptation of Room on the Broom (Wed 3 MarSun 7 Mar 2027), the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The magical Olivier Award-nominated show is perfect for audiences aged 3 and up.
