This week, stars of Matilda the Musical headed across the city to Birmingham’s Legoland Discovery Centre for a morning of exciting building challenges and to explore the magical attraction.

Carly Thoms, who plays the role of Miss Honey in the show, and Sebastien Torkia, who plays Mr Wormwood, were joined by two of the young girls playing the title role of Matilda in the production to complete an exciting creative task! Armed with a box full of Lego pieces, the cast split into two teams to build their best Lego creation…

Famously in the story of Matilda Miss Honey lives in a small, ill-equipped house – in the Lego challenge, each team was asked to use their imagination to build her the perfect new place to call home using just Lego pieces. Each team rose to the timed challenge, creating two beautiful new options for Miss Honey to move into – from Lego plants, sofas and carpets to solid Lego walls and doors.

Following on from the building challenge, the cast visited Legoland Discovery Centre’s Miniland – an incredible recreation of some of Birmingham and the West Midland’s top  buildings and attractions – including the RSC, where the original production of Matilda the Musical opened! Other highlights included a Lego spaghetti junction, The Cube, The Mailbox and the BT Tower.
