The New Work and Artist Development team are delighted to open applications for Craft, a beginners’ playwrighting programme at the Birmingham Hippodrome.
Craft is a series of workshops at the Hippodrome from February – June 2026, facilitated by leading dramaturg and script development expert Ola Animashawun. The sessions focus on the foundations of writing for stage, including character, structure, form and themes, as well as an opportunity for each writer to receive one-to-one feedback on a script extract.
Applications for Craft are now closed.
Ola Animashawun is the Creative Director of Euphoric Ink and has held senior positions in a number of theatres, such as the National Theatre and Royal Court Theatre. He is the founder of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme.
Craft has given me the push I needed to continue writing.
