We offer a programme of workshops for Creatives, focusing on developing craft and expanding skills. We want to do everything we can to make sure that the creative talent of our region is able to develop, thrive, and make careers from a base here. Compass Workshop with Selina Thompson
Internationally-acclaimed artist and writer Selina Thompson will deliver a free theatre-making workshop at Birmingham Hippodrome, which is all about having a series of commitments both aesthetic and political that ground your project.
The Compass Workshop is centred around building an artist compass: one that keeps you and your work headed in the right direction from inception to delivery, and anticipates those moments in the process where you might feel lost. Bring a notepad and something to write with! Please note this workshop is geared towards people living in the Midlands.
Selina Thompson is an artist and writer whose work has been shown and praised internationally. Her practice is chiefly concerned with grief, love, and the world to come, and she seeks to make work that is visually striking, and lyrical, even while grounded in politics. She is primarily concerned with her work centring those historically excluded by the arts, without compromising on rigour or experimentation.
