Information

Birmingham’s Poet Laureate and Weekender Poet in Residence, Ayan Aden, will be responding to the public’s voices each day of the festival.

Drawing directly from the community’s answers to What Are You Waiting For?, Ayan will craft and perform original spoken word pieces that reflect the hopes, dreams, and desires of festival-goers. Whether it’s “I can’t wait to see change” or “The world can’t wait for peace,” every contribution has the potential to become part of a powerful poetic moment.

Join us each day for these special live performancs rooted in the shared stories of our city. Ayan’s work is a celebration of community expression and a poetic call to action.
