The Epic Story of Graffiti Through The Lens Of Henry Chalfant

UK premiere of the first major retrospective of photographer and filmmaker Henry Chalfant. Featuring immersive projections of iconic New York subway carriages moving across the gallery walls. Epic stills from his Subway Art book which profiled New York’s graffiti movement into the international phenomenon it is today. The exhibition will be curated with Mohammed Ali (Soul City Arts).

Southside Skate Space

Hurst Street will be transformed into Southside Skate Space, those of all levels can come together to learn and showcase their skills with professional coaching sessions led by Skateboard GB coach Shaun Boyle. Featuring ramps and rails the pop-up skate space will provide a thrilling playground for skaters to pull off tricks, with professional showcase demonstrations throughout the day.

Block Party with Graffiti Artist.Com & Scratchers Delight

We are shutting down Thorp Street for a street party. Resident DJs Scratchers Delight provide the soundtrack, paying homage to Hip-Hop Music, playing everything from old school jams to current hits. GraffitiArtist.com will gather the best local & UK-wide graffiti artists to paint all day.

Afroflux: Fluxcon

Fluxcon is a mini-convention from Afroflux, curated by Birmingham multi-disciplinary artist Juice Aleem. Mixing visual arts, cosplay, creativity, workshops, film screening, talks, movement, science and a marketplace, celebrating the radical imagination of Black and Brown communities locally and worldwide. This year the marketplace moves outside to Thorp Street, making space for innovation and Black creative businesses in public space.

Break Mission Worldwide and Queer-Side Dance Championships: All Styles and Waacking Qualifiers

Qualifiers take over the Patrick Studio with Break Mission All Styles dance qualifiers alongside Queer-Side Waacking dance qualifiers.

Queer-Side continues to open dialogue for inclusivity, making space & increasing visibility for Queer communities within Hip-Hop through a new dedicated competition for Waackers.

Break Mission Worldwide Championships: Breakin' Qualifiers

Break Mission Worldwide Championships attract elite dancers from across the globe. Breakin’ Qualifiers return to Southside, transforming Hippodrome Square into a dance arena for Breakin’ dance battles to live MCs and DJs throughout the day. The top 4 from Solo, 3v3 and 18 and under categories progress to Sunday’s Finals at Bullring.

B-SIDE Basketball Slam with Basketball England and Kings Heath Clangers

Join Basketball England and Kings Heath Clangers to ‘Have a Go’ at basketball and take part in the community basketball slam. Featuring competitions and handling skill development sessions against the clock with top tips from the Kings Heath Clangers team. Take part in 3v3 mini competitions running throughout the day and learn more about the city’s basketball courts.

Art of Raw returns to Central Street for a dynamic dance battle like no other, challenging dancers to showcase their skills in an authentic street setting: stripping away the dance floor, pushing dancers to adapt and innovate. Competitors face off in a series of high-energy battles, highlighting creativity, agility and their ability to navigate the challenging, unforgiving surface.
