Queues, Cakes and Coffees as Matilda The Musical Goes on Sale
Excitement was in the air here at the Hippodrome yesterday as Matilda The Musical went on sale at 11am. An abundance of people flocked to the Birmingham Hippodrome box office and the lengthy queues began to form as everyone eagerly anticipated the clock to strike 11.
With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. The show has scooped up 85 international awards including 16 for Best Musical. Embarking on it’s first ever UK tour, it’s clear to see why people are desperate to grab a ticket!

In order to ease the anticipation, we provided hot drinks and delicious Matilda The Musical cupcakes (chocolate of course) by local cake company Chitty’s Cakes, based in the Custard Factory.

Tickets also went on sale online and over the phone, creating high volumes of bookings throughout the day. People were quick to snap up their tickets for the West End hit musical that will be arriving here at the Birmingham Hippodrome in July 2018!
