On Saturday 16 December, we opened up our foyers for our first ever Frost Fair. The foyers were bustling with market stalls, where people could pick up some last minute stocking fillers, while our special choir performances and children’s workshops kept all the family entertained.

The festive event saw children from our HEN (Hippodrome Education Network) schools performing in front of family and friends and the Christmas sing-along-songs were in full flow. Not only did the children put on a fabulous show but we also had performances from Birmingham Community Gospel Choir, Rainbow Voices and City of Birmingham Brass band.

During the day we ran a variety of creative workshops which included create a reindeer with Posca, ceramic crafts and origami Christmas decorations with Shelanu.

We also opened up our restaurant area for a cupcake decorating master class with our head chef Mel (aka the queen of cupcakes).

Elsewhere, we presented the winners of the Big Tree Challenge with their awards and tickets to The Snow Dragon. This year we asked local schools to help deck our halls with their best Christmas tree designs, which have been featured on our big screens both inside and outside the theatre.
