In this month’s regular staff blog, we chat to Temporary Events Team Leader, Jaime Rowe about her front line role as a key member of the Hippodrome’s busy Catering and Events Team. From gala dinners to private dining packages, business lunches to large-scale conferences and events, there’s never a dull day in Jaime’s department.

How long have you worked at the Hippodrome?

I’ll have been here for three years at the end of July.

What made you want to work here?

I came to work at the Hippodrome because we have an excellent Events and Conferencing team which provides world class service and I wanted to be a part of that.

How would you describe your job?

My job and its responsibilities change on a daily basis due to the fact that we have and array of packages that we offer our guests, such as private dining, conferencing, gala dinners, outside events and lots more. Although hospitality can be demanding I myself find it very rewarding to deliver an event, and be a part of our guest’s experience. This is one of the main reasons I love my job as I enjoy delivering an excellent event by going above and beyond to ensure my guests leave happy and uplifted.

How would you describe a typical working day?

A typical working day would start with me collecting all function sheets for the day’s events from the events office. I would then go ahead set up any event that needs setting I would also be planning ahead for tomorrow’s events. It is also my responsibility to do the rota which I would collate by viewing the upcoming function sheets and make sure they a staffed accordingly, and is sent to all staff on a weekly basis. I also deal with the linen ordering which is also done a weekly basis and must be closely monitored due to volume of which we may be using.

What’s the favourite part of your job?

I am able interact with so many people across the company which I really enjoy. It’s really lovely working with so many great people. This job keeps you very busy which is great and the range of duties I have definitely keeps it interesting. I could be booking staff one minute, waiting on Simon Cowell the next so on a whole I love my job and all its verities.

What’s your favourite production in general?

I would most definitely have to say Jesus Christ super star I so amazed at how modern and relevant it is. I was just blown away.

What are you most proud of achieving here?

My proudest achievement would be completing my hospitality supervisor NVQ as well being a Hippodrome headliner all of which I could not have achieved without the help and support of my work mates I have truly made friends for life here.
