With the multi award-winning Billy Elliot currently playing to packed houses on the Hippodrome main stage, off-stage, we’ve been stepping up support for young dance talent in the local community. Read on to find out more about our recent programme of fundraising events inspired by the international smash-hit musical, which arrived in Birmingham earlier this month on its first, ever UK Tour.

Over £13,000 was raised for the theatre’s award-winning Hippodrome CREATIVE programme of learning, access and free community performance, which delivers inspiring arts experiences for young people, vulnerable adults and families across the region.

Stuart Broster (Managing Director, Park Regis Birmingham) plus special guests.

On Thurs 30 March, business leaders from the region enjoyed a knock-out night of northern hospitality, themed-fundraising and fine-dining at a Park Regis Birmingham sponsored Corporate Dinner attended by over 160 guests from Birmingham’s corporate community.

On hand to warm up the crowds were event comperes; Joanne Malin (BBC Broadcast Journalist and member of Development Board) and Heart FM Breakfast Presenter Ed James.

Guests at the event wasted no time getting into the party spirit with a little help from a 14-foot, novelty Boxing Ring plus supporting props including tu-tus, legwarmers and novelty miners’ helmets. Completing the retro vibe were Tilt Birmingham who supplied a selection of original pin-ball machines for the evening whilst a Charity Prize Draw – featuring donations from Park Regis and Escape Live – proved hugely popular with guests.

Also on hand to entertain and inspire guests were Shirelands Academy ‘Future Federation’ dance crew with a high-energy break-dance routine which proved an instant hit with the crowds.

Earlier this month, at a SimkissGuy Recruitment Ltd Leading Ladies reception, guests were given the chance to get up close with the stars of Billy Elliot the Musical, Haydn May (Billy), Italia Ross (Debbie) and Scott Garnham (Tony) with a pre-show Q&A compered by BBC Presenter and Broadcaster Kathryn Stanczyszyn.

Billy Elliot the Musical runs until Sat 29 April at Birmingham Hippodrome. For more information and to book tickets, call 0844 338 5000 or visit birminghamhippodrome.com
