Waitress opens up in 2021

Barry & Fran Weissler and David Ian are proud to announce that the first ever UK and Ireland tour of the smash hit Broadway and West End musical Waitress will come to Birmingham Hippodrome from Monday 29 March – Saturday 3 April 2021.

Tickets go on sale this spring with an exclusive presale period for Birmingham Hippodrome Friends and Patron scheme members – click here to find out more.

Waitress is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelley. Music and lyrics are written by GRAMMY award-winning, singer-songwriter sensation Sara Bareilles, who recently appeared on the Graham Norton TV show, performing the hit song from the show She Used To Be Mine. With a book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Tony-award winner Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro, Waitress has garnered multiple awards and nominations in both America and the UK, receiving acclaim from both audiences and critics alike.

Waitress opened on Broadway on 24th April 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it ran until 5th January 2020. Waitress celebrated its official opening night at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End on 7 March 2019. In addition to London, Waitress is currently on a North American tour, and is set to open in Australia, Holland and Japan.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This beautiful musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.

Waitress was originally produced by Barry & Fran Weissler and Norton & Elayne Herrick. The tour is produced by Barry & Fran Weissler and David Ian Productions.

Waitress will come to Birmingham Hippodrome from Monday 29 March – Saturday 3 April 2021. Tickets go on sale this spring with an exclusive presale period for Birmingham Hippodrome Friends and Patron scheme members – click here for more information.

The Marisha Wallace Tour

Marisha Wallace returns to the Patrick Studio at Birmingham Hippodrome with her sensational new tour.

One of the West End and Broadway’s most instantly recognisable voices and beloved leading ladies, Marisha has wowed audiences in smash-hit shows Dreamgirls, Waitress and The Book of Mormon and has recently starred alongside Will Smith in Disney’s big screen blockbuster Aladdin.

Inspired by the likes of the late, great Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald, Marisha’s voice will pull you from your seat and to your feet. She effortlessly infuses jazz, gospel and R&B with a healthy dose of soul that will leave you feeling inspired and uplifted.

Described by The New York Post as “a marvel”, Marisha’s spine-tingling rendition of ‘And I Am Telling You’ from Dreamgirls has to quite simply be seen and heard to be believed.

Together with her theatre success, this versatile talent has taken on the mainstream music world by performing at the Royal Albert Hall, The London Palladium and Cadogan Hall with such revered international artists as Seal, James Blunt and Gregory Porter.

This is a show quite simply not to be missed.

Marisha Wallace plays The Patrick Studio in 2020

One of the West End and Broadway’s most instantly recognisable voices and beloved leading ladies is heading out on her first UK tour.

Marisha Wallace – the sensational star of such smash-hit shows as Dreamgirls, Waitress, Aladdin and The Book of Mormon – will come to Birmingham Hippodrome’s Patrick Studio on Saturday March 14 2020.

Tickets are now on sale – for more information and to book click here.

Marisha, who has just completed a critically-acclaimed run in West End hit Waitress and, this summer, starred alongside Will Smith in Disney’s big screen blockbuster Aladdin, said: “I’m so excited to be heading out on my first ever UK Tour.

“I fell in love with the UK from the moment I first I stepped on stage here. The warmth and love I’ve received from audiences has been really special and I cannot wait to head out to play theatres around the UK – it’s going to be amazing.”

Marisha – whose power-packed new single ‘Fight Like A Woman’ was released on Friday – was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina. But the small town never held down her big city dreams. From glittering New York, her unbelievable talent has taken her around the world.

On Broadway, Marisha starred in shows such as Disney’s Aladdin, Book of Mormon and Something Rotten and then here in the UK as Effie White in the stellar West End hit Dreamgirls before following this up as Becky in the unmissable Waitress.

Described by The New York Post as “a marvel”, Marisha’s spine-tingling rendition of ‘And I Am Telling You’ from Dreamgirls has quite simply to be seen and heard to be believed.

Together with her theatre success, this versatile talent has taken on the mainstream music world by performing at the Royal Albert Hall, The London Palladium and Cadogan Hall with such revered international artists as Seal, James Blunt and Gregory Porter.

And Marisha, who released her debut album ‘Soul Holiday’ in 2017, has just enjoyed huge success as Todrick Hall’s special guest at his sold-out shows at The London Palladium and the O2 Ritz Manchester.

Her debut tour is presented by concert promoters Cuffe and Taylor.

Tickets for Marisha Wallace are now on sale – for more information and to book click here.
