53 years ago, The Beatles performed on our stage, first at the bottom of the bill in March 1963, and then topping it later that year in November 1963. They famously drew crowds of screaming girls to the theatre – and had to be smuggled in by officers from West Midlands Police.

With massive West End hit Let It Be here this week, we recreated the iconic photo taken by the Birmingham Mail, showing the Let It Be cast posing for a photo with local police officers.

The father of Superintendent Kerry Blakeman, (behind Ian B Garcia who plays Paul McCartney) was one of the police officers in the original shot.
