What is ?

In a world of millions of web sites, keeping up to date with the information you want can be a quite a feat.

Wouldn't it be better to have the latest news and features delivered directly to you, rather than searching through tons of content on site after site?

Well now you can, thanks to the latest in web based communication technology, RSS.

Gone are the days when you have to remember to visit that all important site on that all important date to get the best deal because the information is sent directly to you when the site publishes it.

There is some debate as to what RSS actually stands for. The majority like to call it 'Really Simple Syndication'. What this means is that you can identify the content you like and have it delivered directly to you.

It takes the long hours of clicking out of staying up-to-date, by showing you the very latest information that you are interested in.

How do I start using feeds?

The first thing you will need is something called a News Reader. There are many different versions, some of which can be accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.

Once you have a News Reader, all you have to do is to decide what content you want. For example, if you would like the latest ‘Show' information from the Birmingham Hippodrome, simply visit the site and you will notice an orange RSS button on the 'Now Booking' show at the top of the page.

Click on the RSS button and now all you need to do is copy the URL, as shown above under the feed title (top of the page), into your RSS News Reader.

Where do I get an feed reader?

There are a lot of news readers currently available and new ones are constantly being developed. You can get limited edition news readers as free downloads but to access some of the more advanced features of these news readers you will have to pay a small fee.
