A powerful and uplifting story of young Albert, his beloved horse Joey, and the unimaginable obstacles they overcome both individually and together.
England, 1914. As World War 1 begins, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes Joey on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in No Man’s Land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find Joey and bring him home.
Filled with stirring music and some of the most innovative stagecraft of our time, War Horse is a remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, and an unforgettable theatrical experience. At the heart of the show are life-sized puppets which bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.

I saw the war horse on sat 2 November it was amazing would go and see it again well worth watching
Heather Myatt \\ 03/11/2013
I've wanted to see Warhorse for some time so was a little bit worried that I may have been disappointed after the long wait. I'm glad to say I was wrong. It was stunning. It captured the atmosphere of a terrible time in history. It was an emotional ride, very moving and also funny. The cast were brilliant. The 'puppets' were amazing. I forgot Joey wasn't real pretty quickly and lived every moment of the production with him as if he was a live animal. BRILLIANT - deserved the standing ovation.
Sue Wolves \\ 03/11/2013
Watched War Horse at the Hippodrome last night and was totally mesmerised from beginning to end...absolutely brilliant. The production was 'world class'....Well done to everyone!!!
Amanda Purcell \\ 02/11/2013
Absolutely magnificent!!!!! Wonderful show.
Susan MacLean \\ 30/10/2013
Let me just say initially that when I have read reviews in the past that praise a production’s brilliance, it always raises my expectations so that when I finally get to see the show for myself I am usually disappointed to varying degrees. With War Horse, I am glad to say, this was not the case. Steve and I had booked front row seats so we were able to see each and every element that made up the “puppets” including every intricate control that bought them to life by the very skilled operators. However, within the first few seconds I did not even notice the nuts and bolts or puppeteers, as “Joey” instantly became a living, feeling foal, you couldn't help but be drawn into his story. It was so captivating by the excellent puppetry, choreography and acting. As the show progressed, the simple and emotional story of a young boy’s love for his horse and visa versa had tears streaming down my face on more that one occasion. The other puppets from the blue birds to the other horses were all so beautifully and naturally portrayed. Encore, Encore. My last thought is that this year’s best supporting actor award goes to the “Goose”

Claudine Chapman \\ 16/10/2013
Just got home from Birmingham Hippodrome with my two little ones of 8 and 11 and all I can say is what an absolute fabulous production. Tears, action comedy and overall edge of seat tension. Unbelievable how they make those horses work. Get tickets and go, wonderful night out. Well done Warhorse
donna \\ 16/10/2013

We have just been to see this show and were amazed how fantastic it was, far better than the film!!!
Mark \\ 16/10/2013
I saw 'War Horse' in London and can't wait to see it again in Birmingham. Joey is inspirational - within minutes you believe he is a real horse and care about him passionately. This remarkable stage play should be seen by everyone. It shows the true horror of war but with a powerful message of what love and compassion can achieve in the midst of suffering. See it and you will have the theatrical experience of a lifetime.
Brenda Conway \\ 08/09/2013
