Big Hair, Big Heart, Big Hit! Join us at HAIRSPRAY

|
The next Leading Ladies event takes place at Hairspray on Tuesday 21 May. We hope you, your colleagues and clients can join us for this feel-good musical comedy. Expect the usual element of surprise that Leading Ladies prides itself on. Sssshhh – we can’t give away the secrets just yet!
Network reception is from 6pm followed by the show at 7.30pm. Places are limited and can be booked NOW with Rosie on 0121 689 3068 or at rosannamilsom@birminghamhippodrome.com. Tickets cost £60 and include a complimentary glass of wine, canapés, sweet treats, show ticket, parking courtesy of APCOA, guest list and photographs.
Hairspray tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart as she sets out to follow her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mum and win the boy she loves.
This promises to be an upbeat theatrical evening with a thumping 1960s soundtrack. Come and network with some of the most well-known female professional names from all sectors and enjoy a shared love of the theatre.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

| VAMPIRES & A SON’S REVENGE: BUT SLEEPING BEAUTY IS RE-BOURNE |
|
Leading Ladies gathered for a highlight in their calendar at Matthew Bourne’s new production of Sleeping Beauty, a gothic re-working of the familiar fairytale. Matthew Bourne joined more than 70 cross-sector guests and was generous with time, insight and autographs at what is rapidly becoming THE cult-network in the city.
![]() Those new to Bourne’s work were fascinated to learn about his creative process and inspiration behind the new work. After the performance die-hard fans were faced with the dilemma of deciding where Sleeping Beauty falls in their personal rank order of his wide-ranging repertoire.
In conversation with Leading Ladies founder and Hippodrome Development Trustee, Fiona Alexander, Matthew also spoke about his support of young choreographers who seldom get opportunities to see their work performed. He praised the high quality of dance students from Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) who performed an original work in the Curtain Raiser during the run. This collaboration between Birmingham Hippodrome Education and ReBourne is now in its fifth year.
Resident Leading Ladies photographer Vivienne Bailey was on hand to capture the atmosphere of the evening with guests enjoying sweet treats courtesy of Miss Macaroon. Year-long sponsor Harvey Nichols kindly brought along some of the latest springwear styles including fabulous Michael Kors bags (looks of envy from several quarters!)Thanks to the generous response from Leading Ladies the evening raised £1800 for Birmingham Hippodrome Education, Access and Community Engagement work and several lucky winners walked away with fabulous prizes from the raffle.
