Pirate Day

We aim to support all primary schools in the West Midlands area and beyond, with the provision of educational related activities which will enhance and augment the school curriculum. We can do this in a number of ways tailored to each school’s own particular needs.

These can take the form of:

  • Backstage tours
  • Theatre days
  • Literacy weeks
  • Bespoke non-show related workshops
  • Show related workshops
  • Musical Theatre , Dance , Drama, Singing Workshops
  • Panto Workshops

We can apply such subjects as: Science; Design and Technology; Literacy and Numeracy; Art and History and of course Dance and Drama, to all aspects of theatre and theatrical productions for all age ranges from Foundation to Keystage 2 plus a range of cross curriculum activities.

We have already run many such courses which have been individually designed for particular schools but we are very keen to extend our repertoire and are always looking for a new project to get our teeth into!

Many Thanks to Liz and her team for another exciting visit to the Hippodrome. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring “behind the scenes” and gained a great deal from the activities. They particularly liked having a real ticket and finding their own seat in the auditorium and acting out their stage name on stage. This experience had provided a wealth of work for their leaning journey “Show Time”. We do hope we can visit again next year.” - Anne Henson

Teachers! Feel the need for inspiration? ...a little isolated? ...at the end of your creative tether?
We offer regular networking events for teachers to meet local colleagues, catch up on what is happening in other schools and pool ideas in an informal and open forum, with a creative input from Birmingham Hippodrome’s Education Department and a variety of arts practitioners.

The sessions run late afternoon on weekdays and are open to teachers from primary, secondary and special schools.  You will also be given the opportunity to stay and watch that evening’s production at a discounted price whenever possible.

Next meeting: TBC

Please call Rachel Smith on 0121 689 3192 or Liz Leck on 0121 689 3064 or email education@birminghamhippodrome.com to book your place.
