The West End's favourite musical comedy, Hairspray, is coming back to Birmingham Hippodrome!

HAIRSPRAY

Hairspray tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart as she sets out to follow her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mum and win the boy she loves.

Stage and screen star Mark Benton (Waterloo Road, Early Doors) will play the larger than life Turnblad family matriarch Edna in the show. Mark will be joined by EastEnders star Lucy Benjamin who will play the role of scheming TV executive and archetypal ‘showbiz mom’ Velma Von Tussle, X Factor finalist Marcus Collins as Seaweed Stubbs and newcomer Freya Sutton as big-hearted, big-haired teen heroine Tracy Turnblad.

Hairspray is the musical with everything - the ultimate feel-good show which has played to sold out houses in London, on Broadway and theatres around the globe.

My friend and I went to see the show on the first night after a LONG day at work. What a treat! The atmosphere was electric, the singing and dancing were impeccable and the live music is always a bonus. Pure delightful theatre, packing a great big punch. Good also to see the chemistry between the main performers. It works guys, it really works! Thank you.

Hairspray should be available on the nhs, you leave feeling happy and it is an absolute tonic. Freya, Marcus and Mark are perfection and the whole cast is amazing. Go and see it, fantastic songs, dancing and storyline. Loved it from start to finish. I want to go again, it really is superb!
