What's On > The Full Monty

Tue 26 Feb - Sat 2 Mar 2013 (ARCHIVED LISTING)
From the producers of Calendar Girls.

In 1997, a BAFTA award winning British film about six out of work Sheffield steelworkers with nothing to lose, took the world by storm. And now they’re back, live on stage, only this time, for them, it really has to be…

The Full Monty

Simon Beaufoy, the Oscar winning writer of the film, has now gone back to Sheffield where it all started to rediscover the men, the women, the heartache and the hilarity of a city on the dole.

Featuring songs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones, The Full Monty is brought to the stage by award winning director Daniel Evans and stars Sidney Cole, Kenny Doughty, Craig Gazey, Roger Morlidge, Kieran O’Brien, Simon Rouse with Scott Anson, Tracy Brabin, Caroline Carver, Eamonn Fleming, Elaine Glover, Rachel Lumberg and Ian Mercer.

This Sheffield Theatres production is presented by David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers the multi award-winning producers of 'ART', BRIEF ENCOUNTER and CALENDAR GIRLS.

Based on the Fox Searchlight Pictures motion picture

Heather Bennett \\ 02/03/2013
Saw the show Friday 1st. What an amazing, fabulous cast, truly talented (in many ways!!) On reflection it seems that we danced, laughed and squealed throughout the performance. The four of us enjoyed a wonderful evening and left in such a party mood that we hit the town ~ we actually ended up having a drink in the same bar as some of the actors and they were all very friendly and kind in regard to photos and signing the shirt I caught when it was thrown to the audience. Thank you so much for a really memorable evening.

I was unsure if this could be as good as the film but actually the theatre show was much more exciting, it was so well put together, the acting was great, the music was fab and I didn't stop laughing til I left the theatre, everyone must have felt the same as there was a standing ovation at the end, thoroughly recommend it, the best night at the theatre you will ever have ;)

So funny well done, brilliant performances. Loved it would go to see again
Anita Bashford \\ 27/02/2013
This production is much funnier than I remember in the film. The background serious subject matter is handled sensitively but with gusto. Excellent background scenery is adroitly transformed but from my seat in the middle circle, several times, I could see stage management in the wings. Overall an enjoyable production not made easy with an over excited audience!
pamela steer \\ 27/02/2013
