| WELSH NATIONAL OPERA - WAGNER DREAM |
|
The year is 1883. Richard Wagner is dying. He has changed music and theatre forever. He will leave behind some of Western art’s greatest works. But he hasn’t finished his life’s work; he is tormented by his need to write a music drama based on Buddhism. Jonathan Harvey’s fantasy on Wagner’s final days fuses biography with what might have been, had Wagner created this work. Wagner Dream combines theatre with extraordinary music. Welsh National Opera gives the work its first fully staged performances in the UK as part of our season marking Wagner’s bicentenary. We can promise you that Wagner Dream is unlike anything you will have experienced at the opera before.
