What's On > Evita

Mon 12 - Sat 24 Sep 2011 (ARCHIVED LISTING)

Featuring some of the most famous and inspiring stage music ever written, including the classic songs Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me and Another Suitcase in Another Hall, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary musical EVITA embarks on a spectacular national tour.
Bringing to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, EVITA tells the story from her young and ambitious beginnings to the enormous wealth and power she gained and her ultimate rise to "sainthood".

With more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and featuring one of the most coveted roles in musical theatre, this brand new production of the smash hit show truly promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Please note: on Tue 13 September there is an Autumn Chinese Festival taking place in and around the Arcadian from 1730 - 1930. It is likely to be busy in the area around those hours so please leave plenty of time to get to the theatre.

Went to see the matinee performance this afternoon. Have always wanted to see Evita and I was not disappointed. Evita herself was fantastic and brought me to the verge of tears on more than one occasion with her stunning performance. Brilliant!

This was a Birthday treat for my daughter,so expectations were high. We were not disappointed. I have seen several productions of Evita but this was Kelsey's first. We both really enjoyed it for different reasons i suspect. For my part, the relatively young cast brought tremendous energy to a very moving performance, well done to all involved.

I seen Evita on the 16th and it was out of this world, right from the very biginning, the way the stage and lighting was arranged, and from the first announcement i was on the edge of my seat, I was blown away by the characters as they were perfect and so in character, not one fault and brought tears to my eyes and made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Absolutely brilliant!!!

Friday night 16th; What a night we had, Quite wonderful. The acting/singing was excellent, the time flew by. This version was Almost as good as the original 1976 album with ms covington at vocals. Staff were also Excellent. T.shirts/programmes were an added bonus. Many thanks to all...!

Finally, after 30+ years got to see this Wednesdy 14/09/11!! Well worth the wait..absolutely nothng to fault. The cast was fabulous, with stunning sets, and leaders singing out of this world...special praise for the child singing Santa Evita, sadly didn't get her chance of applause at the time, but wonderful cheer at curtain time. Want to see it again, and again etc!

Went to the opening night on 12 September. Excellent production with stunning staging. I have seen two stage versions previously, including on e with Elaine Paige, but I think this was the best. Evita was exceptional, her crystal clear voice and delivery was positively spine tingling. Thoroughly recommended.
